Pete Goodman at Dyfi Precision Engineering

About Me

My name is Pete Goodman.

I started out my on my motorsport career as an engine builder at Engine Developments (Judd Engines). During the early eighties we were rebuilding mainly Cosworth DFV engines for many F1 teams, including Williams, Tyrell, Fitipaldi etc.

After co-founding Goodman Racing Engines during the Group B era,  we specialized mainly in MGMetro 6R4 engines, initially building engines for the works rally team, followed by many private customers in rallying, rallycross, and circuit racing. Although it started out as a 3.0 litre engine, we went on to engineer many variants, including 2.8 litre, 2.5 litre, right up to 3.8 litre.

Since moving to Wales in 2001, I have continued building competition engines, and making and machining components both for motorsport applications, and for the renewable energy industry, which plays a big part here in Wales. Some recent pictures are in the gallery.

I have over 35 years experience in motorsport and engineering, and am able to make components from drawings, sketches or even a concept! Machining time is charged at £50 per hour.

As far as engines are concerned, I have rebuilt many different designs, form Cosworth DFV, through BDA, YB, to Formula 3 Volkswagen, Jaguar and Maserati historics, not forgetting of course, numerous 6R4,s for John Price, Peter Lloyd and many others.

As well as 6R4s recent engine rebuilds include Rover V8, RS200, RS1700T, Lancia Fulvia, and Peugeot 205T16.
